Abortion - disguised Evil?

The telegraph here reports an alarming rise in the number of teenage abortions being conducted in England. Although abortions are not new to the western society, what is deeply concerning is that there are women who have had their 8th abortion. According to me this just shows the callous attitude that has developed among the youth towards abortion. Further more the Telegraph reports here that
“It is increasingly clear that abortion is simply being used as a form of contraception by a growing percentage of girls and women, and that tired policies of values-free sex education, condoms and morning-after pills are not working,”
There could be many reason including the one that is illustrated in the cartoon strip below. I am sure that in India also the same problem exists.

However, in India it is not just teenage pregnancy that we need to worry about. In India a major portion of the abortions do happen based on the sex of the fetus.  The girl child is still not the preferred choice of many a bunch of parents who still trust that a son can only ensure that the blood-line progresses. Well so much for the so called "Khandan" which might soon be non-existent.
Given the fact that the literacy rates in India don't show a very rosy picture it is very difficult to ensure such activities are curbed. Only stringent laws and greater awareness in the youth can ensure a change in the outlook of people towards abortion or the need for the same.
